Money is not true happiness
Not so long ago Bill and Melinda Gates announced their divorce after 27 years of marriage. It proved once again that riches do not make a happy marriage. In fact riches is not the be all and end all for happiness. Only if we have the Source of Joy, Jesus Christ, in our lives do we have happiness which money cannot buy. So the Word of God reminds us that godliness with contentment is great gain. Do not covet those who have to think of security for their riches which thieves can steal and the financial market can blow away in a day. Learn to have the right perspectives in life.
My grandfather left me a pair of expensive Chinese antique vases. However, one day my brother-in-law missed a step and knocked one off its perch and on to the floor, all broken into smithereens. It was an heirloom and of great sentimental value and price. In my natural reaction I could have had a big fight, severing relationship with my brother-in-law, for his carelessness which left me with just one vase instead of a pair of greater value. However, the Spirit reminded me that a human and relationships is much more important than a thing. Praise God, today we have a good relationship and enjoy great fellowship in the family.
