Nuggets – The Danger of Willful Sin

Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him. (Numbers 15:31)

Under the Mosaic law, there was ample provision for forgiveness of sins committed unintentionally. “If any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering. And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly…and it shall be forgiven him” (Numbers 15:27-28). However, as in our text, it was altogether different for one who deliberately disobeyed God’s law. One who would so despise God’s commandment was to be put to death.

In this Christian dispensation, many would say that this harshness of God’s law has been replaced by His love. There is abundant pardon for all, since Jesus died for all our sins. Now all we need is to confess our sins and He will forgive us (1 John 1:9). But, “if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins….He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God?” (Hebrews 10:26, 28-29).

Even assuming this warning applies specifically only to those who have willfully renounced faith in Christ, the question still remains whether one with true saving faith will willfully sin against the known will of God as revealed in His Word. “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him” (1 John 2:4). Only God knows the heart, but those “Christians” who deliberately reject and disobey His Word should at least “examine [them]selves, whether [they] be in the faith” (2 Corinthians 13:5). HMM

God says to love our enemies, because that is a big deal !
Loving your friends is easy, just a little repairing once in awhile !
But to love your enemies, that takes extra work to see the good in them !
    John 3 : 16
    To forgive is Divine
To forgive and forget is the hallmark of a Christian !
But humanly speaking forgetting is etched in our minds !
    Can God erase it ?
With God all things are possible !
    Nite, nite

Its good to discuss the merits of God’s Word for our lives to be pleasing to Him and to others !
You don’t have to teach a young lad to be bad, it comes naturally, he is born with it but you have to teach him to be good !
Until he reaches the age of accountability, God covers his sin with the blood of Jesus.
Before we were saved, we sinned constantly and most times was not necessarily bothered by it.
But when we were saved, the indwelling Spirit came to live with me.
It didn’t take very long for me to understand that I could not serve two masters.
Feed the One and starve the other !
Proverbs 24 : 16 says – For a just man falls 7 times but gets up every time but a wicked man shall continually fall into mischief !
I have fallen many times in life but I have fought The Good Fight and won !
I have never graduated from any school, only the school of hard knocks !
May we always learn from each other about our Lord and Savior.
What about Faith without works, that is another one to discuss !
    Your brother in Christ.

With Love from Rick Roehm Williamsburg Ohio – Acts 15:8-9…And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

Just great fellowship from Doug Mc Clintock,87, from Sarnia, Ont., Canada !
We share a common bond in sharing God’s Word !
We need to care for the indwelling Spirit
If we take care of Him He will drive the car
that is, He will work in us that we may work out His salvation !

This issue is a very important subject to fully understand and I will be the first not to get a full grasp of it.
If we say we do not sin we deceive ourselves. When we sin God is faithful to forgive us our sins if we confess our sins to Him and as a born again believer, we serve God not mammon.
. Some believe in sinless perfection ?
Phil 2:13 It is God who works in us both to will and work for His good pleasure !
As believers we should be able to discuss these things, who among us knows everything ?
Once I was a babe in Christ but now I desire the meat of His Word and desire to know His truth
Fully realizing that God looks at us as perfection because of what His Son Jesus Christ did for us !
Conversion, only God can do it Little sins, big sins there is only one sin God won’t forgive and that is not to believe in Him as our personal savior !
Good tidings to you, brother in Christ !

Sin two fold – the act: the nature. Forgives the acts. Destroys the body of sin – at one stroke of the hand of God…Completed work…in this life. Like the day of Pentecost…Saved men sanctified…

  4. Doug Mc Clintock says:

You cannot serve two masters, you will hate one and love the other, A born again believer will understand this more and more as they journey on ! But the old man still exists and always will but with the Lord as our guide, we will win the victory !
For to live is Christ and die is gain ! Press on old warrior. !

    • rickroehm says:

My Bible says the body of sin can be destroyed…that henceforth we should not serve sin – Destroyed is a word that magnifies the Holy Spirit doing a work, “at one stroke”…Romans 6:6. Not upon the sinner – but upon the saved man to place of sanctification where the old man doesn’t try to rule anymore. God removes, destroys, and or rids the born again believer from this inner conflicting nature – to a place of constant victory. No more wilful sin…

  5. rickroehm says:

The sanctified heart allows… the righteousness of the law to be fulfilled in us
